Swimming FAQ

  • How often do I pay the SSM Fee?

The Synergy Sports Membership and fee is only due once per year and each player needs to have their own waiver and pay the fee.

  • When are Synergy swim lessons offered?

Synergy Sports offers swim lessons from May-August of each year.

  • How do we schedule lessons in our own pool or our neighborhood pool?

Synergy Sports will travel to you to teach swim lessons. We can teach private lessons, semi-private lessons, small group lessons or larger group lessons all in the convenience of your own pool or your own neighborhood. We bring our own equipment and have a lifeguard available if necessary.

  • How do I know what level to put my swimmer in?

If you are new swim lessons, contact Anne Sievers and she will assist you in what level to place your young swimmer. At the end of each session, your swimmer will receive a progress report so you know what level to place your swimmer in for the next session. Swimmers will not advance through the lesson program from one level to the next in one session for the most part.

  • How do I register for swim lessons?

All registration will be done online, see the registration tab on how to register for a Synergy program. You will need to create an account and pay the yearly Synergy waiver fee prior to registering for any program for the first time.

We offer lessons either 2 times a week for a 4 week session or 4 times a week for a 2 week session. There is a minimum enrollment of 3 participants in our group classes as well as a maximum enrollment of 6 swimmers per instructor.  If less than 3 swimmer are enrolled you will be asked to move to another class as well as if less than 3 swimmers show up to a class it will be shortened from 60 minutes to 45 minutes. Check the schedule (HERE)

  • What if we miss a practice?

Plan to attend the practice time and day you register for. To ensure a proper swimmer-to-instructor ratio for our lessons, we are unable to permit make-up classes or a change of practice days due to a missed class by your swimmer unless they are cancelled by Synergy due to weather. If you cannot make the lesson that your swimmer has chosen unfortunately you cannot come to another lesson that week. To keep the fees as low as possible, we will not be able to issue reimbursement for missed classes. If Synergy has to cancel lessons due to weather 35 minutes into a lesson, Synergy Sports will count that as a full lesson.

  • What if my swimmer does not like it?

Swimming is like all activities that children do, some are slow to getting used to it. Allow time to adjust to the instructor, water, etc. This is one of the reasons we offer our lessons 2-4 times a week.

  • What should we bring to class?

Swim suit, towel, goggles and sunscreen

  • How do you know if your swimmer is ready for swim team?

If your swimmer knows the basics of all 4 strokes and can swim 1 lap of the pool they are ready to participate in swim team. Any questions about swim team please send to Anne Sievers at asievers@synergysportsmo.com

Swim Lesson Tips

Be patient with your swimmer(s). Remember that learning is a process, one that is not always consistent and has good days as well as bad days. Not all kids learn at the same rate and remember that each swimmer will pick something different up from each drill we do. Please do not overreact to what might seem to be a setback and do not judge how they are doing in just once class. Over an entire session you will see progress.

Stay with the swim lessons on a regular basis. Think about the other activities they do. You would not expect them to learn to read, play an instrument, or learn another sport in 6-8 classes. Swimming is a life skill. Stay with the instruction and give your child a love of the water as well as a skill they will treasure forever.

Don’t bring or provide your own floatation device for the swimmers. We will use ones we know will work specifically with the different drills that we do with them during the lessons.
